it’s almost Halloween and the Monsters are Waiting
October 3, 2007
If you are anywhere near Los Angeles or Las Vegas around Halloween time this year, you’ll have the opportunity to see Monsters are Waiting. The American indie rock band from California will be playing at The Echo in Los Angeles on October 26th, and on Halloween night at the Beauty Bar in Las Vegas for their Halloween Show. I loved their full length release Fascination, on Retone records, which was released back in 2006. Their music is loaded with memorable guitar licks, catchy melodies, and strange bit of oddness. Hey, who said odd wasn’t cool? I think they rock. Monsters are Waiting is made up of Annalee Fery, Eric Gardner, Jonathan Siebels, and Andrew Clark.
Douglas Heart

Yesterday I shared some information about the Labrador music label being so kind to offer up a really nice sampler of music of their artists. One of the groups from Sweden featured on the sampler is Douglas Heart. I don’t believe they are working with the label anymore, but the label is how I found out about their tunes. I absolutely love this band, their music puts me an in incredible relaxed state of mind. Don’t let the band name confuse you though, for the music is graced with female vocals. The lush vocals of Malin Dahlberg are probably what does it for me. There are some that may consider the songs a bit too moody and depressing, but I must say the complete opposite. The songs are well crafted and beautifully produced. You can listen to one of their songs below, which can be found on the sampler.

If you are on a life long quest to find good sounding indie pop rock songs to help you get by in life, let the band Shade help. The group is based out of Pittsburgh and will feed your appetite for catchy tunes that are sure to keep you satisfied. They recently have had the cool opportunity of having their song “Keep Them Shouting” added to the playlist of American Airlines inflight music channel “The Buzz”. It’s a great way to get their music heard! The band definately highlights some of the good music coming out of the Pittsburgh area.
